Here we are at the end of October. I really can't believe how fast time is flying. The clocks have just gone back, meaning we’re officially into autumn! I don’t know about you, but autumnal evenings make me just want to take a long hot bath, and then snuggle up and keep cosy.

Natural mineral bath soaks

Botanicals bath soak is chock-full of Himalayan crystal - said to be the most pure and natural mineral salt in the world. Formed millions of years ago, this ancient salt has none of the impurities caused by environmental pollution, and is said to contain all the essential nutritional elements needed for a healthy body.

There really is no better way to soak away the stresses and strains caused by today's non-stop life-style.

About Himalayan Crystal Rock Salt

Himalayan crystal rock salt contains 84 of the 92 trace minerals known to man, and no other natural or man-made salt has this many minerals. In addition, the salt contains the minerals in the same proportions as the human body. As well as the vital minerals such as calcium and magnesium, Himalayan crystal rock salt has the other necessary minerals.

Many minerals need other trace minerals in order to work so it is vital to have the correct variety of minerals as well as the correct proportions for the minerals to work in the body, and Himalayan crystal rock salt contains these.

Our natural mineral bath soaks also include Dead Sea salts

The waters of the Dead Sea have been renowned for their therapeutic effects since ancient times. Two thousand years ago, Flavius wrote that the salts from the Dead Sea heal the human body.

The waters from the Dead Sea are unique in that they contain 27% of various salts as compared to 3% in normal sea water. Further, while sodium accounts for approximately 80% of the salt content of normal sea water, it comprises much less of the salt total in water from the Dead Sea. The balance of the salts in Dead Sea water are magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride and bromides.

Why are Dead Sea salts beneficial?

Magnesium is important for combating stress and fluid retention, slowing skin aging and calming the nervous system. Calcium is effective at preventing water retention, increasing circulation and strengthening bones and nails. Potassium energizes the body, helps to balance skin moisture and is a crucial mineral to replenish following intense exercise. Bromides act to ease muscle stiffness and relax muscles. Sodium is important for the lymphatic fluid balance (this in turn is important for immune system function).

So we can see that soaking in high quality sea salt could replenish the minerals which are critical to our skin metabolism.

Easily absorbed by the skin, Himalayan mineral crystal is perfect as a bath soak. It helps to alleviate even the most severe cases of dry skin, and promotes hydration and cellular regeneration.

What about the Epsom Salts?

Epsom salts are good for relaxing muscles and drawing toxins from the body, Epsom salts, made of the mineral magnesium sulfate—are also a sedative for the nervous system.

When magnesium sulfate is absorbed through the skin, such as in a bath soak, it draws toxins from the body, sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural emollient, exfoliator, and much more.

Soaking in a bath of our natural mineral bath soak will soothe aches, remove odors and soften rough skin.

The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. Research shows that magnesium also increases energy and stamina by encouraging the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy packets made in the cells. Experts believe that soaking with Epsom Salt at least three times a week helps you to look better, feel better and gain more energy. Magnesium ions also relax and reduce irritability by lowering the affects of adrenaline. It lowers blood pressure, creates a relaxed feeling, improves sleep, concentration, and helps muscles and nerves to function properly.

So what are you waiting for? Fill a warm bath and add some of our relaxing Botanicals mineral bath soak. It comes in two flavours - Himalayan rose and Sandalwood and marjoram. Click on either link for more details.
